Hathaway pixie cut: Anne Hathaway’s cropped do voted most influential hairstyle

Anne Hathaway’s pixie cut, courtesy of her role of Fantine in the acclaimed movie, “Les Misérables,” recently topped the list of the most influential onscreen haircut of all time, according to an April 18 E! News report.
In a poll taken by the Hairdressing Council of Great Britain and Universal Pictures, the Oscar winner beat out Jennifer Aniston’s loose curly do in “Along Came Polly,” and even Audrey Hepburn’s “Charade” updo.  Aniston nabbed second spot, while Hepburn scored third place.

Hathaway may have the most influential pixie cut in movie history, but that does not translate to a following among women in their fifties and older, according to New York Magazine’s The Cut.
While the trend is rocking the young crowd, including Charlize Theron, Emma Watson, Michelle Williams, Miley Cyrus, Ginnifer Goodwin and Maggie Gyllenhaal, older women “who once absolutely owned the pixie cut, are currently enduring hair that’s in that extremely awkward growing-out stage.”

Hairstylist Nunzio Saviano is shocked by the trend.  A few months ago, one of his older clients declared she was “done with her cropped hair.”

“It was a such a shock to me,” Saviano says. “She had the perfect hair texture and face shape for the cut, but she said ‘Now that I see all of these young actresses with short hair, I can’t wear it this way. It looks good on them.”

Celebrity stylist Oscar Blandi weighed in on the ongoing trend, observing, “I can see an older woman feeling uncomfortable having the same haircut as today’s young Hollywood starlets because it can make them feel trendy, even if they have already been wearing the same style for years before the trend takes off.”

While Ellen DeGeneres rocks her cropped do with chic gusto, it is clear that young Hollywood has joined that chic, classic haircut club and is there to stay.

Nicki Minaj Idol outfit: ‘American Idol’ judge pours herself into sexy red dress

DSQUARED2 dress
Reality television star Nicki Minaj is no stranger to controversy surrounding her look.  The “American Idol” judge may have just gone a little too far this time on national television, if her fans and social media are the measuring stick.
According to an April 18 Huffington Post report, “When the "Super Bass" singer stepped on the "Idol" stage in a skintight red number, the Twittersphere's jaw dropped.”  While the dress Minaj rocked on the April 17 episode of “American Idol” appears to be a regular Minaj number, it did feature a sexy cleavage-baring style, figure-hugging spandex and a short hem.  Nothing fans have not seen before.
Fans reacted immediately. “American Idol” fan Hannah wrote, “I know it's bad that I was watching idol, but you should google nicki minaj's outfit on tonights show, because she looked like an idiot.”
Another fan, Tiffany was a little more blunt.  “Nicki minaj's outfit is very stripper like #idol #lapdance.”
The fact that the show airs during a time when children are watching television struck a nerve with some viewers.  Melissa Clayton tweeted, “@AmericanIdol @nickiminaj your outfit tonite was not appropriate #americanidol is a family show. Had to explain to my little boys. #ashame.”
According to UPI.com, the outfit was not Minaj’s only controversy on the show.  She continued her bickering with fellow judge Mariah Carey, and at one point, asked Carey to “Simmer down, sir.”

As for the outfit, it is similar to a sexy DSQUARED2 red cut-out fitted Scuba dress, which retails for 865.

Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon on spring fashion trends

Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon may be teenager, but she’s not just any teenager.  The busy teen runs a fashion clothing line with her mother and when it comes to offering fashion tips on what’s in and what’s out this season, Lourdes is not shy to give her take on what everyone should not be wearing.
According to an April 16 E! News report, the teen fashionista offered up some tips on her fashion label’s blog on what’s haute this spring.  “I feel like finally this sense of body con dresses and tube skirts has left us (praise the lord),” the 15-year-old wrote.
It appears breathing is in and bondage is out.  “I mean okay they look nice but really no one is comfortable lets be frank among friends (oooh peep my alliteration).  I think (I hope) you guys will be pleased to see that the spring 2013 collection of Material Girl incorporates more loose t-shirts and tank tops and flowy-er-y-ish-like skirts and dresses. Yay. Ugh gotta let da body BREATHE.”
